ABOUT KARL TRAVIS
Karl Travis is a Texas native who returned to the state in 2007 after study at two seminaries (San Francisco Theological Seminary and New College, the University of Edinburgh, where he received an Honours BD in Applied Theology and Christian Ethics), and after 16 years of combined service as the Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Roswell, New Mexico, and Pastor/Head of Staff at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church in suburban Detroit. Karl is honored to have received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Austin College, and he is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International. He currently serves as Senior Pastor/Head of Staff for First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth.
A child of Presbyterianism, and an extreme extrovert, Karl has served at every level of church governance. He is a frequently invited preacher and conference keynoter, but admits that his favorite church service is to the local congregation. In addition to his leadership at First Pres, Karl also serves on the Boards of Directors at Fort Worth’s Presbyterian Night Shelter, the James L. West Alzheimer’s Center, Trinity Terrace Retirement Community, the Pastor’s Advisory Council of the PC(USA)’s Board of Pensions, and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
