The Biblical Department

Austin Seminary recognizes the value of biblical studies for theological education and preparation for ministry. Introductory courses in the master's-level degree programs provide an overview and survey of the biblical witness in its proper context. Additional requirements in the MDiv program serve to develop students' abilities to integrate biblical exegesis, theological reflection, historical awareness, and cultural analysis.

Professor Donelson is the author of five books and numerous articles.  His latest books are I & II Peter and Jude: A Commentary; From Hebrews to Revelation: A Theological Introduction; and Colossians, Ephesians, First and Second Timothy, and Titus, all of which are published by Westminster John Knox Press.  He is currently working on a book about messianic dynamics in the gospels.

Dr. Donelson is the editor of Horizons in Biblical Theology, an academic journal published by APTS.

Professor Donelson has spent a lot of time and energy in recent years learning the history and archaeology of Turkey and Greece. He has organized and led seminary travel seminars to these areas.

A few years ago, he went on Dr. Bill Greenway's wilderness trip in Colorado and was reminded of how much he loved camping.  He and his family began taking yearly backpacking trips in Colorado. He plays golf from time to time.
