He was a Presbyterian Church in the U.S. missionary in Greece from 1878 through 1892.
Scope and Contents: In 1879 in Athens, Greece, Sampson inscribed the front flyleaf of this item with his signature. The Bible has underlined text and marginal notations, concentrated in the Gospel of John, and an outline at the end of the book, all of which were probably the work of Sampson.
This book originally belonged to T. R. Sampson. It was given to Thomas White Currie by Mrs. T. R. Sampson after her husband’s death in 1915. On October 20, 1943 the book was given by Mrs. T. W. Currie to her son, Stuart Dickson Currie. S. D. Currie, in turn, gave the book to his brother, T. W. Currie, Jr. in April of 1958. On February 4, 1970, T. W. Currie, Jr. donated this book to the Austin Seminary Archives.
