Biographical Note: Damon Douglas Hickey (1942- ), former Presbyterian pastor, was born in Houston, Texas on October 30, 1942. He attended Rice University from 1960-1965 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey where he received a Master’s of Divinity in 1968. He then performed post graduate work at the Institute of Religion in Houston. Hickey was ordained in 1969 and served as pastor in Irving, Texas until 1971 when he became associate pastor at Southminster church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Moore, Oklahoma (1971-1972). He moved to North Carolina and took classes at Duke University and the University of North Carolina and transferred to the Presbytery of Orange in the Synod of North Carolina in 1973. In 1975, he decided to leave the Presbyterian church and joined the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker church).

Materials in accession #2007-009 were originally held at the Montreat office of the Presbyterian Historical Society. They were transferred to the Austin Seminary Archives in 2007.
