Biographical Note: William Carnes Dunlap (1817-1886) was a Presbyterian pastor in Tennessee, Texas, and Louisiana. He was born in Maury County, Tennessee on August 14, 1817, attended Lancaster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, and was ordained in 1846. He served as stated supply for churches in: Fayetteville, Tennessee (1846-1852); Lewisburg, Tennessee (1852-1853); Centreville and Crockett, Texas (1853-1855); Marshall, Texas (1856-1867); and Thalia Street church in New Orleans, Louisiana (1867-1868). He served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1869 until his death on September 21, 1886.

Scope and Contents: The William Carnes Dunlap sermon is entitled “Remarks on Baptism.”

Materials in accession #2007-009 were originally held at the Montreat office of the Presbyterian Historical Society. They were transferred to the Austin Seminary Archives in 2007.
