The First Congregational Church of Evanston recently named Rev. Dr. Ann Rosewall as its new senior minister. Rosewall most recently was director of field education at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston.

"Three things particularly impressed us about Ann: her warmth, deep spirituality and joyfulness," said Michelle Plasz, co-chair of the pastoral search committee at First Congregational Church. "In addition, she is comfortable with and accustomed to a system in which the laity and the staff work together, which is important in our church."

Rosewall has a doctorate from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a master’s degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. As an undergraduate, she studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Universidad de Barcelona in Spain. She grew up in Evanston, attended Evanston Township High School, and was nurtured in faith at Northminster Presbyterian Church. In 2007, she also served as interim minister at Northminster.

The First Congregational Church of Evanston, which recently voted to affiliate with the United Church of Christ (UCC), is one of the oldest congregations in Evanston. It was founded in 1869 by settlers from New England, where Congregationalism traces its roots to the Pilgrims.
