Clergy Renewal Grants

Two-year grant for clergy small groups

Applications for 2026-2028 are now closed. Applications for 2027-2029 will open January 2027.

With a focus on renewing your call to ministry, this two-year, $10,000 grant is awarded to five small groups of pastors to help them pursue a self-designed program for rest, reflection, and recommitment to pastoral excellence. Gather a small group of clergy colleagues and apply for a grant to fund your self-designed program of renewal.

When applying, we ask that you take time to thoughtfully develop your budget and clearly articulate how funds will be used. We strongly encourage applications from diverse individuals and groups. The more thorough and well developed your application is, the stronger your chance of being considered. Please remember that your application is the primary way we come to understand who you are, the work you hope to do, and the impact you seek to make.

Reflections on the Cohort Experience

"Finally, this journey reaffirmed the sacred gift of this cohort. More than mere colleagues and/or co-laborers—we are family to one another – home in the truest sense. In different ways, we are truth-tellers, companions, spiritual mirrors, and fellow pilgrims…and fellow foodies, too! The emotional, intellectual, and pastoral labor of leading as clergy of color is heavy. In this cohort, we found a refuge—a place where we could name weariness without justification, delight without apology, and discernment without pretense." -2025 Cohort

“We had a truly enriching experience in Savannah, exploring creative innovation at SCAD, civil rights history both past and present, and Methodist heritage. The timing was perfect and we returned rested, renewed, and ready to create some good trouble." -2024 Cohort

"Each in our cohort has felt the spirit blowing in their lives in different ways... Our group has laughed together and cried together, and it's been life-giving and healing for all of us."-2023 Cohort
