The Atla Religion Database is the premier resource for journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion with the largest collection of full text religion and theology journals. This database is produced by Atla, a membership association of collectors and connectors in religion and theology.
The Biblical Archaeology Society Library is a searchable collection of over 7,000 articles and 22,000 photographs, maps, diagrams, and drawings from BAS publications, including Biblical Archaeology Review (1975 to present), Bible Review (1985 to 2005 complete) and Archaeology Odyssey (1998 to 2006 complete), as well as video lectures on key issues in archaeology and the Bible and curated topical collections on selected subjects.

Credo Reference Online

Credo is an excellent place to begin when you are first learning about a topic. On this site, you will be able to search encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks on topics ranging from Christianity to other religions to the interactions between religion and society. The articles available in these searchable e-reference volumes provide a concise overview of a topic with an authority you can trust. Special search tools like Mind Maps and related pages can help make new connections in your research. Check out the topic pages for images in the public domain that you can cut and paste into presentations without worrying about copyright restrictions.

Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception Online [New!]

The only comprehensive reference work on the Bible and its reception.  The encyclopedia contains the most current state of knowledge on the origins and development of the Bible in the canons within Judaism and Christianity. It documents the history of biblical reception, not only in Christian churches and the Jewish Diaspora, but also in Islam, other non-Western religious traditions and movements.

This collection includes periodicals, compiled legislative histories, CRS reports, Congressional hearings, United States Supreme Court briefs, monographs, and other related materials on the difficult and controversial topic of regulating firearms in the United States. 

Slavery in America and the World: History, Culture, & Law.
This collection includes legal materials on slavery in the United States and the English-speaking world. This includes every statute passed by every colony and state on slavery, every federal statute dealing with slavery, and all reported state and federal cases on slavery. 

JSTOR: Religion and Theology archive collection

This collection covers the history and philosophy of religious thought spanning traditions, periods, and critical approaches.  As an archival collection, it includes the full text of journals from their inception through approximately five years ago.


Oxford Biblical Studies Online provides many excellent tools and resources for in-depth Biblical study. In addition to six different versions of the Bible and other biblical texts, you can also access the Oxford Bible Commentary and two Concordances, which can be read side-by-side on the same screen. You will also have access to more than 6,000 reference entries from a variety of Oxford reference sources. Additionally, there are hundreds of images and maps to help you visualize the biblical world.

These databases are provided by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's TexShare databases program. Resources include: Spanish-language e-books through ProQuest, the Learning Express Library, medical reference, job searching & resume help, a hobbies & crafts center, small engine repair, and genealogical resources.

This is a searchable and browsable list of journals available electronically in full-text through Stitt Library subscriptions. 
This is the traditional library catalog, and includes books, journals, and other physical items for both Austin Seminary and the Seminary of the Southwest.

The Chronicle of Higher Education publishes news, information, job listings, and trends about the world of higher education. Through the Stitt Library subscription, current students, faculty, and staff can get complete access to the site.

The New York Times U.S. and International editions are available to current students, faculty, and staff through an Austin Seminary / Stitt Library subscription.

The Theological Research Exchange Network (TREN) is a library of over 10,000 theological thesis/dissertation titles representing research from as many as 70 different institutions.
