Life in Austin
Austin's personality is also our personality—accepting, creative, open, free, weird. Our campus is intimate, yet immersed in Austin culture and embedded in city life.
Our home in the heart of Austin brings culture, creativity, and diversity to our doorstep, allowing you to engage in service and learning beyond the bounds of the Seminary campus. Oh. And did we mention queso?
Austin Seminary is located in the heart of one of the greatest cities on the planet. But don’t just take our word for it:
· Forbes ranked Austin as the #1 place to live (2016-19)
· Wall Street Journal placed Austin at the top of the list for job hunters (2020)
· TIME magazine named our new public library one of their World's Greatest Places! (2018)
Students at Austin Seminary find plenty to do in this active, creative city—and with around 300 days of sunshine, much of it’s done outdoors. The city that launched Twitter (SWSX, 2011) and inspired the creation of Whole Foods, Tito's, and Dell Computers offers University of Texas football, Formula One racing, Barton Spring Pool, and enough marathons and music festivals to tie up traffic from here to eternity. On the quirky side, we have 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats living under a bridge downtown and a 50+-year tradition of celebrating Eeyore’s birthday. You won’t get hungry here either with 2000 food trucks, loads of mouth-watering barbecue, and, sigh, breakfast tacos!
