Workshops

Throughout the 2014-15 year, MFM is offering students 3 workshops on a variety of pertinent financial topics.

MFM Cohort members will use the information they are gaining in their learning community and present it in campus-wide workshops.

Keep an eye out for topics to be covered! This is one of the easiest ways to embrace MFM opportunities that Austin Seminary uniquely offers to students.

"Sarah's Tears, Joy and Money" Budget Workshop

One of the most crucial and most difficult things about being financially responsible is creating a sustainable budget that works month after month. Middler M. Div student, Sarah Wildt, has spent the last 6 months attempting to live within her means and find a budget that works for her.

Sarah started out loathing budgets and wanting to talk about anything but money. But her evolving relationship with money has taken her far, and she can’t wait to share her life changing experiences.

Ministers Facing Money invites you to attend "Tears, Joy, and Money: Sarah’s Budgeting Workshop." This workshop will explore Sarah's journey and the results she has discovered. We hope to help you find a way to make your own sustainable and theological budget.

Come join us on Wednesday, April 15 from 6:30-8:30pm in McCord 204 to hear about Sarah’s journey.

"Youth and Money" Workshop Description

We’re afraid to talk about money. We’re definitely afraid to talk with YOUTH about money.

Leave that fear behind; come to our workshop!  Let’s find ways to tackle money with the future of our church.

Ministers Facing Money invites you to our "Youth and Money” Workshop, which is designed to spark a conversation focused on approaching the topic of money in both a theological and financially thoughtful manner with the youth of the church. This workshop will be formed around a directed panel and discussion moderated by three speakers:

Rev. Dr. David White, C. Ellis and Nancy Gribble Nelson Professor of Christian Education and Professor in Methodist Studies
Rev. Dr. Blair Monie, Professor in The Louis H. and Katherine S. Zbinden Distinguished Chair of Pastoral Ministry and Leadership
J.D. Herrera, senior MDiv student and pastor at Manor United Methodist Church in Austin, TX

With their leadership, the workshop will focus on the concepts of stewardship and other spiritual doctrines and practices related to money within the setting of youth ministry.
