Explore the core Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ as it applies to everyday struggles in the borderland of US native Hispanic and new immigrants. The theme will explore the socio-political, economic, and historical experience of native peoples in lands of conquest. Participants will spend the morning learning with Dr. Loida Martell-Otero about the theology of the resurrection. In the afternoon, participants will focus on the Bible by learning a new way to tell Bible stories. Pastor Lori Ruge Jones will give basic instruction for learning and performing Biblical stories for worship, devotion, or workshops. (This workshop will be conducted in Spanish)
“Fuego, Viento y Culto” (Fire, Wind and Worship) is the first in a new series of workshops focusing on church music and liturgy from around the globe. This workshop will focus on the particular patterns and rhythms of Latin American worship and explore the possibilities for an integrated worship experience. Designed with music directors, clergy, and worship team members in mind, this highly interactive event will expose and equip participants to return to their congregations with tried and true resources, new ideas, new insights, and new skills to enliven the worship experience, by the power of the Spirit, through the music and liturgy of Latin America.
