2012 Heyer Lecture: Immigration

Join Austin Seminary as we welcome Dr. Néstor P. Rodríguez as our 2012 Heyer Lecturer. Dr. Rodríguez is a professor of sociology at The University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on Guatamalan migration, U.S. deportations to Mexico and Central America, the unauthorized migration of unaccompanied minors, evolving relations between Latinos and African Americans/Asian Americans, and ethical human rights issues of broader enforcement.

Pastors and church leaders will explore one of the core messages of the Christian faith: liberation—with a focus on what liberation means in particular for people living across the borders of southern North America. This workshop is for everyone who cares about strengthening the freeing presence of Christ and the church in the borderlands, whether they are Hispanic or otherwise, pastors or lay people.

Classes will be taught in Spanish or English with simultaneous interpretation.
