Austin Seminary will confer the graduating class of 2012 on Sunday, May 20, at University Presbyterian Church in Austin. Thirty-eight masters and doctorate candidates will enter the ranks of alumni. During this final week of the academic year on Tuesday, May 15, the graduating seniors will take part in a day of reflection as they prepare to cross the “Threshold” from seminarians to graduates entering into their ministries and calls. They will be joining extraordinary alumni who are shaping the future church.
This month, we’d like to recognize some Austin Seminary alumni who are leading conversations, engaging the faith community, and serving the church. One group of alumni, who have formed the Society for Pastoral Excellence, will host the first ever Bold Word preaching conference. Another group of alumni are hosting an open-source format conference, Unco. Also highlighted this month is a reprint of a front-page feature story on alum Mitchell Holley (MDiv'08), who is a hospital chaplain at Akron Children's Hospital. Austin Seminary alumni are leading the conversation, many of whom write blogs. In this issue, we compile a blog roll of known alumni blogs. If you know of more or would like to share your own, email us to be added!
