Engaging the World Together

Our mission at Austin Seminary is to be a dedicated community that educates, supports and sends leaders into ministries to engage the world as it is and is becoming. But we don't do it alone! It is not without the support of strong partnerships and grants and gifts from generous donors who share and support our mission.

This month we celebrate the five-year anniversary of the dual degree program with The University of Texas at Austin's School of Social Work. In celebration, Education Beyond the Walls at Austin Seminary will partner with the UT School of Social Work to host a special workshop on Oct. 13 titled "Everyday Ethics: Integrating Spirituality and the Practice of Counseling." Last month, Dr. Mark Regnerus, associate professor of sociology, was the invited speaker for the annual Heyer Lecture, which is highlighted in this month's edition of The Reed.

Also in this issue, find out how a partnership with the University of North Texas helped preserve the history of the Texas Mexican Presbytery, the only Spanish-speaking presbytery of the Presbyterian Church; and read about the AYAVA House, a partnership with the PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteers and AmeriCorps.
