Touching the World Around Us

Wildfires have ravaged thousands of acres and homes in and around the Austin area and around the state, leaving families at a loss. Many members of the extended Austin Seminary community—students, faculty, staff, and alumni—have been affected by this devastation. Many more have stepped up to be the light and hope for these communities and thrust into the role of public preacher. The reach of the work done by these leaders, whom Austin Seminary proudly calls family, is extraordinary.

In this month’s newsletter, Professor Cynthia Rigby shares thoughts on the pastors’ role as politics and life meet in the pulpit. We also showcase Terra Pastora, a College of Pastoral Leaders cohort who deepened their sense of worship through each other and exploring nature. Also featured is the annual celebration of Theological Education Sunday, which is taking place in Presbyterian congregations all over the country this Sunday.
