MDiv / MBA Dual Degree

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE MDIV / MBA DUAL DEGREE PROGRAM AT AUSTIN SEMINARY

Applicants to the Dual Degree program apply through Austin Seminary. Students shall meet the admission requirements of both institutions as follows:

• Required background check
• Required four references; dual degree students should include at least one reference from an employer or work colleague
• Transcripts indicating the successful completion of an undergraduate degree with at least a 3.0 GPA
• An autobiographical essay; an analytical essay; and a program-specific essay
• Students without a degree in business are requested to provide a resume detailing their career experience

IMPORTANT

Students who meet the admissions criteria of Austin Seminary, and whose undergraduate degree is in business or business administration may be automatically admitted to both degree programs.

Students without a BA in Business Administration or a related field are required to submit a resume detailing their career experience. These applicants will be required to complete two three-credit on-line courses at Schreiner University prior to their admission to the MBA (BSAD 5306 and BSAD 5307). These two courses do not count toward the dual degree. They may be taken prior to arrival on campus or concurrently with the first year of the student’s MDiv coursework.

The MDiv/MBA program is designed to be completed in four years and requires the completion of 36 semester credit hours at Schreiner University and 78* semester credit hours at Austin Seminary.

All students in the dual-degree program are required to take an integrative seminar at Austin Seminary that serves as a capstone course and provides an opportunity for personal reflection and critical inquiry about research methodologies.

The student is responsible for completion of work in both degree programs. Both degrees must be completed for the student to receive either degree. Students who complete only the requirements for the MBA or MDiv will receive neither degree.  The diploma from Schreiner will reflect the MBA only and will not make reference to the dual degree program arrangement.

*Note: Starting in Fall 2025, the requirement for the MDiv degree at Austin Seminary will be 78 credit hours.
