President Irizarry's Inauguration on March 31 began with a bagpiper leading members of the Board of Trustees, the faculty, and delegates from colleges, seminaries, and denominational representatives, including the Co-Moderators of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The worship service included an address by President Irizarry, a Charge to the President by The Reverend Chris Currie, pastor of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, New Orleans, who chaired the Presidential Search Committee, and a Charge to the Community from The Reverend Paul S. Roberts, president of Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary in Atlanta. Choirs from several Austin-area churches provided special music, and a mariachi band played the service out.
