Dr. Timothy Lincoln joined the Austin Seminary faculty as director of the library in 1994. He was appointed Associate Dean for Seminary Effectiveness in 2005. Previously he had served as periodicals librarian at the Maryknoll School of Theology (Maryknoll, NY) and as a pastor in Detroit Lakes, MN.
In 2002, he co-authored a successful $1.5 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to support pastoral excellence through learning cohorts. In addition to his responsibilities for library leadership, institutional planning, and assessment at the Seminary, Dr. Lincoln has been active in the American Theological Library Association as a committee member and workshop leader. He currently is a member of the ATLA board of directors. He has served on a number of evaluation committees for the Association of Theological Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2012, he became the treasurer of The Council of Southwestern Theological Schools.
Dr. Lincoln has published in a variety of journals, including Feminist Theology, Theological Education, Journal of Men, Masculinities and Spirituality, and Theological Librarianship. His current research projects focus on the adoption of e-texts and e-reading devices in theological libraries.
Dr. Lincoln is an ordained minister of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Austin.
