Austin Seminary Photographs

This collection contains photographs, slides, and negatives dating from 1921 to the current day documenting seminary life and the buildings and grounds of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The Thomas McHutchin and Hilda Cunningham scrapbooks

Thomas McHutchin (T.M.) Cunningham (1887-1979), Presbyterian pastor, was born March 22, 1887 in Turnersville, Texas. On February 14, 1923, he married Hilda Lydia Hugon (1889 - ?). The couple had one daughter, Hilda Grace (Tinker). Both T.M. and Hilda were very active in the Presbyterian Church in Texas. These images come from three scrapbooks that were most likely compiled by Hilda Grace Cunningham. Full collection inventory available here.

The Heinz Joachim Held slides

Heinz Joachim Held (b. 1928) was a German exchange student at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary for the academic year of 1952-1953. These slides depict Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the University of Texas at Austin, Mo-Ranch, and Austin, Texas, during 1952-1953. Also included are images of two parades: a University of Texas at Austin round-up and a celebration commemorating the inauguration of Governor Allan Shivers. Texas-Mexican Presbytery Records (Photographs, Slides, and Films)

Frank Hall Wright Sermons

Newspaper clipping about Frank Hall Wright Frank Hall Wright (1860-1922) was an evangelist in the western United States. Wright was born January 1, 1860 in Oklahoma (then considered Indian Territory) to a father who was a chief of the Choctaw Nation and a mother who was a Presbyterian missionary. After his ordination, he traveled the United States preaching as an evangelist and missionary to Native Americans. This collection consists of typed sermons delivered by Wright at First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio in January 1916. These sermons were a component of special evangelistic services intended for both Christians and the general public. The complete sermons, as well as related clippings and correspondence from the Arthur Gray Jones papers, have been digitized and made available via links from the collection inventory.
