Austin Seminary graduates are popping up everywhere. In its one hundred year plus history, Austin Seminary has touched the lives of more than 3,000 students. The Austin Seminary Alumni web page provides an on-line location for former classmates to catch up and share information about their lives, families, and ministries; it also serves to strengthen and maintain connections between the Seminary and its graduates.

1950s
Ann McDaniel, the wife of Faries McDaniel (MDiv’50), died on May 21, 2017.

 

1960s
Joe B. Donaho (MDiv’63) was honored by Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina which established The Dr. Joe Bryan Donaho Teaching Church Endowment Fund.


Warner Bailey (MDiv’64) has written a new book, Living in the Language of God: Wise Speaking in the Book of the Twelve, published by Pickwick Press, an imprint of Wipf and Stock.


1980s
Connie Alexender, the wife of Paul Alexander (MDiv’84) died on December 4, 2016.

Neill Morgan (MDiv’85) began serving July 23, 2017, as interim pastor for Darnestown Presbyterian Church near Gaithersburg, Maryland, in National Capital Presbytery.

Daniel Molyneux (MDiv’86) had his most recent book published February 14. JUDAS SON OF SIMON, is an extensively researched historical novel written from the perspective of Judas Iscariot. The March 15, 2017 edition of LIBRARY JOURNAL said: "In Molyneux's skillful hands, the story comes alive in a new way that humanizes Judas and provides insight into the life of Jesus ... Emotionally intense and intricately plotted, this provocative novel profiles Judas in unexpected ways." Judas has been nominated for numerous book awards, including the 2018 Pulitzer Prize.

Peter E. Roussakis (DMin’86) has published Piety in Song: Spiritual Themes in Brethren Hymnody (Apostolos Publishing, 2016).

St. Mark Presbyterian, Boerne, Texas, has called Kevin R. Boyd (MDiv’87, DMin’98) as senior pastor and head of staff.

William C. “Bill” Pederson (MDiv’88)has been called as pastor of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Georgetown, Texas.

David Hébert, the husband of Anne Clifton Hébert (MDiv’87), died on April 26, 2017.


1990s
Shane Whisler (MDiv‘95)  recently completed service as evangelist and community organizer at East Broad Outreach Center in Mansfield, Texas, which held its final worship service on Easter. He is now serving NorthPark Presbyterian, Dallas, as parish associate alongside fell alumni Brent Barry (MDiv’94) and Kelly Updegraff Staples (MDiv’11).

Arthur (Tom) Paine (MDiv'98) is now a Lt Col in the LA Air National Guard as well as serving two congregations in the New Orleans area, Parkway and St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Churches. He has been selected to serve as Protestant Chaplain for Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica from October to December 2017.

The daughter of Jeff Cranton (MDiv’99), Chelsea Cranton, died on April 1, 2017.


2000s

Dale Shultz (DMin’00) has moved to Hurst, Texas, to pastor St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Brett Hendrickson (MDiv’02) has been promoted to associate professor of religious studies at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Additionally, his second monograph is being published by NYU Press in August: The Healing Power of the Santuario de Chimayo: America’s Miraculous Church.


Kyle R. Toomire (MDiv’05) is pastor at Bandera (Texas) United Methodist Church.


Chris Drew (MDiv’07) reports that his ministerial credentials have been transferred to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and he was installed as the pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on June 23, 2017. He and his spouse, Sara Stegemann Drew (MDiv’07) are parents to four children.


William K. Knudsen (DMin’07) retired in April, as pastor and major in the US Army Chaplains Corp as a Major. He served on the National Council of Presbyterian Chaplains and Military Personnel, and he was the stated clerk of John Calvin Presbytery and executive presbyter and stated clerk for the Presbytery of Northumberland.

Kristin and Carter Robinson (MDiv’07) greeted Robert “Micah” Jackson Robinson on May 18.

Stephanie and Mark Renn (MDiv’08) welcomed Madison Michelle Renn, born on May 17.

Jonathan (MDiv’08) and Caressa (MDiv’08) Murray were installed as designated co-pastors at Covenant Presbyterian Church, College Station, Texas.

Jerimey J. Wicke (MDiv’09) is now pastor at First United Methodist Church, Harlingen, Texas.



2010s
Daniel R. Harrington (MDiv’10) is now at Gruene United Methodist Church, New Braunfels, Texas.

Paul E. Harris (MATS’10)
is pastor at Hunt (Texas) United Methodist Church.

Heights Presbyterian Church, Houston, Texas, has called Lindsay Hatch (MDiv’10) as pastor.

Tracey Beadle (MDiv’11) is senior pastor at Westlake United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas.

Rosemary C. Grattan (MDiv’11) is associate pastor, Manchaca (Texas) United Methodist Church.


Brian Plescher (MDiv’11)
is at Spertus Institute of Jewish Learning and Leadership beginning  doctoral work in Jewish Studies.

Molly Atkinson (MDiv’14) and Mario Ransan (MDiv’14) introduced Miriam Anna to the world on April 18.

J. D. Herrera (MDiv’15) is pastor to St. Mark United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas.

Donna Neilson (MDiv’15)is serving as Ministry Area Co-coordinator for Radical Welcome at Pleasant Hill Community Church (United Church of Christ) in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee. Also on Worship Planning Team and Immigration Crisis Team at PHCC-UCC.


Brianna Benzinger (MDiv’16) married Aaron Luckevich, May 19, 2017.

Greg Allen Pickett (MDiv’16) has been called as pastor to First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska.

Kelly K. Shoenfelt (MDiv’16)is pastor at Servant Church, Austin, Texas.

Annanda Barclay (MDiv’14) was ordained on July 9, 2017, at Central Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas; she has been called as associate pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Palo Alto, California.

Dawn D. Baird (MDiv’15) was ordained on June 9, 2017, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Adam K. Thornton (MDiv’15) was ordained on June 9, 2017, and installed as senior pastor at Dripping Springs (Texas) United Methodist Church.

Kathy Lee-Cornell (MDiv’16) was ordained and installed as associate pastor for Mission & Outreach at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Texas, on June 11, 2017.
