Guide to Submitting an Application

A completed Application includes:

  1. Personal Profile
  2. Narrative Essays

Personal Profile

  1. Complete contact information (mailing address for office and home, telephone numbers, e-mail address)
  2. Ordination (or the equivalent) date, location, ordaining communion
  3. List of ministerial appointments
  4. Educational background
  5. Request for scholarship, if needed, and reason for request. Include information about continuing education funds available in church budget, if any.

Narrative Essays

Please respond to one question from each of the categories below. Each answer should be about one page in length, 500-700 words.

  1. Please respond to one of the following questions:

(a) What caused you to apply for Revaluing Money?

(b) What questions, concerns and hopes do you bring to the project?

(c) What is your central orienting theology? Who are your go-to theologians or biblical scholars? Why?

2. Please respond to one of the following questions:

(a) What do you most hope for yourself as a pastor? What part does money play?

(b) Describe a situation in your life as a minister, either in a congregation or beyond, where you faced a difficult issue relative to money. How did you respond? What did you learn? What did it leave you wanting to learn?

(c) Reflect on the predominant relationship with money you see in the lives of members of your congregation. How would you convey this using metaphor, story title, visual image, advertising slogan, colors or other non-linear means?
